Coroner IDs Man, 26, Killed In Weekend Crash
The collision happened in the area of Stearns School Road and Mill Creek Drive in unincorporated Gurnee early Saturday.
LAKE COUNTY, IL — A 26-year-old man seriously injured in a weekend crash has died, authorities said Saturday.
The Lake County Coroner's Office identified the man as Kyle Debevec of Gurnee. Preliminary results from an autopsy show Debevec died from blunt force injuries that are consistent with a crash, according to the coroner's office.
The single-vehicle collision happened in the area of Stearns School Road and Mill Creek Drive in unincorporated Gurnee at about 2:05 a.m. Saturday when a Mercedes-Benz drove off the south side of the road and hit a tree, according to police.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found the sedan with heavy damage, and the driver, who was later identified as Debevec, trapped inside.
Emergency crews were able to extricate him from the vehicle and took him to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with critical, life-threatening injuries. Debevec was pronounced dead died hours later in the intensive care unit of the hospital.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team.
