Coroner IDs Man Fatally Shot In Mundelein; Police Search For Shooter

MUNDELEIN, IL — The Lake County Coroner's Office has identified a 21-year-old Wheeling man fatally shot in Mundelein.

Luis Moreno died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Lake County Coroner's Office news release. Meanwhile, a homicide investigation is underway into the death, and authorities are still searching for the shooter, said Christopher Covelli, public information officer for the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force.

Police were called to the scene of the shooting in the parking lot of a strip mall in the 700 block of South Lake Street at about 7:10 p.m. Monday, according to a new release from the Lake County Major Crime Task Force. Moreno was driven to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Authorities are not sure at this point who drove the man to the hospital and he left the emergency room.
