Coroner IDs Man Who Died In Crash After Running Red Light: Police
Neal Raffeld died from blunt force injuries sustained as a result of the Friday crash at West Winchester Road and North Butterfield Road.
LIBERTYVILLE, IL — The Lake County Coroner's Office has identified a 77-year-old Mundelein man killed in a three-vehicle collision in Libertyville last week.
Neal Raffeld died from blunt force injuries sustained as a result of the Friday crash at West Winchester Road and North Butterfield Road, according to a news release from the coroner's office.
Authorities say Raffeld was driving the Napa van and was stopped at a stoplight at the intersection of West Winchester Road and North Butterfield Road at about 11:50 a.m. Friday when, for an unknown reason and while the light was still red, the van entered the intersection and was hit by the UPS Box truck, according to the press release.

Raffeld was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead in the emergency room.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
