Couple Has Baby In Car Along Algonquin Road
Two police officers helped the Wonder Lake couple, who were on their way to the hospital, with the delivery of their baby.

Two police officers helped a Wonder Lake couple with the roadside delivery of their baby in Barrington Hills on Tuesday, according to a report.
WGN TV News reported that officers Bill Walsh and Brian Baird arrived at the call around 7 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Old Sutton Road and Algonquin Road in Barrington Hills.

Grace and Tyler Schwartzlow, who are Wonder Lake residents, were in their car on the way to the hospital when they pulled over to the side of the road.
“All of a sudden within five minutes I knew we weren’t going to make it. I made him pull over. He called 911 and he [the baby] was here before the police even arrived on scene,” Grace told WGN.

Tyler helped his wife deliver their baby son Jaxton Michael and the two officers arrived minutes later to assist.

“They really provided a calming presence to everybody involved, I know when they first arrived on site, it went from we’re in this on our own if something bad happens, I don’t know what to do or what to possibly could be done, to okay now we have the support here and it made a world of difference from the mindset of least where I was at,” Tyler said.
Tyler told WGN that the two officers later made a surprise visit to the hospital where they brought flowers along with toys and coloring books for the couple’s two other kids.
The officers brought junior police stickers for Jaxton and honored him as a junior police officer, WGN reported.
“Too often police officers are not recognized for the above and beyond service they provide to the public,” Barrington Hills President Martin McLaughlin said.
“I am proud to have Brian and Bill working in our community and very happy to see that their professionalism and training assisted this young family in welcoming their son safely into this world and, I understand, as a junior public safety officer,” McLaughlin added.
