Crystal Lake Man Charged With Possessing Child Pornography

A Crystal Lake man has been arrested and charged after police found him in possession of child pornography that showed a young boy being raped by a man.

Eloy Cardoso-Ortiz, 46, of the 300 block of Keith Avenue in Crystal Lake, was charged with one count of possession of child pornography, a Class 2 felony.

A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County court alleges Cardoso-Ortiz possessed a video file of a boy, who appeared to be under the age of 13.

A male adult was sexually assaulting the boy in the video, according to the complaint.

The Crystal Lake Police Department investigated the incident and reported that the incident occurred in August.

Detectives arrested Cardoso-Ortiz on January 26 and the man was transported to the McHenry County jail.

A judge ordered Cardoso-Ortiz held in the jail on a $50,000 bond. He must post $5,000 cash in order to be released.

Cardoso-Ortiz, who remains held in the jail, is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday for a preliminary hearing.
