Diamond Lake Searched As Police Look For Missing Man; Foul Play Suspected: Authorities

The search continues for Ruslan Furman, 51, of unincorporated Mundelein.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — Police and fire crews are searching in and around Diamond Lake in Mundelein as authorities try to locate Ruslan Furman, 51, of unincorporated Mundelein. Police said they believe foul play is suspected in his disappearance.

Furman, of the 16500 block of North Route 83 in unincorporated Mundelein, has not been seen for more than a week, Christopher Covelli, a deputy chief with the Lake County Sheriff's Office, told Patch on Thursday.

Covelli said detectives believe foul play could be "linked to his disappearance." On Wednesday, detectives searched Furman's home after obtaining a search warrant, Covelli said.

On Friday, the fire department, sheriff’s office and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources are searching Diamond Lake for any clues regarding Furman's whereabouts, according to the Lake & McHenry County Scanner. Meanwhile, authorities searched a home in connection with the missing person investigation and took two into custody on charges not related to the probe.

Dmitry Bogatiryov, 52, of Mundelein, and Damen Voranoff, 55, of Mundelein,were found to be in possession of several firearms and a large amount of cannabis inside of their home.
