Dog Rescued In Appley Avenue Fire

According to Libertyville police, the dog was the only one inside the residence when it caught fire.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — Libertyville police officers said a dog was rescued from a house fire that broke out Thursday in the 200 block of Appley Avenue. According to a June 26 release from the Libertyville Police Department, police said officers responded to report of a residential structure fire at 9:56 p.m., June 19 at the above address, and when they arrived, officers saw flames coming from the roof of the house. Officers were able to get inside the house through the front door, and found a white, medium-sized dog while checking for anyone inside the house, according to the release.

Police said the dog seemed frightened and wouldn't follow officers out of the house. However, officers were able to pickup the dog and safety remove him from the home, police added.

According to the release, contact was made with the homeowner, who said there shouldn't be anyone left inside the home. The owner was later reunited with his dog, according to police, and the fire investigation was turned over to the Libertyville Fire Department.
