Cook Memorial Library District Welcomes Violinist Oliver Colbentson With Pianist Jimin Yun

Violin virtuoso Oliver Colbentson, accompanied by gifted pianist Jimin Yun, will perform at the Libertyville Civic Center on Sunday, December 4 at 2:00 p.m.

Colbentson started his career at 16 when he performed as a soloist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in Orchestra Hall after winning a competition.

His career flourished and from 1954 to 1958 he was concertmaster of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra in New York. In 1962, he became head of the string department of the Meistersinger Conservatory. He has performed over 1200 concerts and broadcasts in 29 countries and has released 14 CDs.

Visiting from Europe on a limited engagement, Colbentson will be joined by gifted pianist Jimin Yun for an outstanding afternoon concert of classical masterpieces.

The concert will take place in Room C at the Libertyville Civic Center, 135 W. Church Street.
