Family Kite Fly Day Is Next Weekend In Vernon Hills

VERNON HILLS, IL — The Vernon Hills Park District will host its annual kite fly day next weekend at Century Park.

The free family event will be held at Century Park, 1001 Lakeview Parkway in Vernon Hills, from 12 to 1 p.m. on April 27.

The event supports the Illinois Association of Park Districts’ “Flying 4 Kids” program which promotes the sale of park district license plates that feature a kite design, according to the park district. Proceeds from the sale of kite themed license plates support after school programming.

Those stopping out can bring their own kite or purchase one at the event for $10. Those attending can park at the Century Park boat dock shelter parking lot and walk up to the island picnic shelter.

The program is free and does not require registration.
