Female Found Dead Inside Mundelein Home

MUNDELEIN, IL — A female was found dead inside a home in Mundelein following a fire Sunday evening.

The Mundelein Fire Department and the Mundelein Police Department responded to the fire at the two-story duplex in the 1200 block of Huntington Drive at about 5:20 p.m. Sunday, according to a news release from the Lake County Coroner's Office.

When they arrived, they found smoke showing, and after they extinguished the fire, they found a female occupant inside the home. She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the coroner's office.

The Lake County Coroner's Office is currently in the process of identifying the female and an autopsy was conducted on Monday. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Mundelein Police Department, Mundelein Fire Department and the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal.
