Four Lake County Businesses Fail Compliance Checks: Sheriff

53 alcohol compliance checks were conducted across Lake County, and four businesses failed, according to the sheriff's office.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — The Lake County Sheriff’s Office cited four businesses for selling alcohol to a minor during recent compliance checks. According to a release from the sheriff's office, alcohol compliance checks were conducted at 53 businesses that sell alcohol throughout Lake County. The compliance checks, according to the sheriff's office, are designed to ensure any business selling alcohol isn't selling to anyone under the age of 21, as it's illegal to sell alcohol to minors.

The four establishments and clerks in violation of the recent alcohol compliance checks are:

  • Marathon Gas Station: 24480 West Grass Lake Road, unincorporated Antioch.
  • Sunset Foods: 4190 Route 83, Long Grove
  • Minuteman Citgo: 24112 North Rand Road, unincorporated Lake Zurich
  • Marathon Gas Station: 33199 Route 45, unincorporated Grayslake

The clerks accused of being in violation at the above establishments were ticketed for selling liquor to a minor, and are required to appear in Waukegan court, the sheriff's office said. In addition, notice of the violations were sent to their respective liquor commission jurisdictions — Long Grove and Lake County Liquor Commission, the release added.
