Frozen Body Found Off Bike Trail In Lake County: Coroner

The Lake County Coroner's Office is investigating the cause of the death for a man found dead off a bike trail in Waukegan.

WAUKEGAN, IL — A body was found off of a bike trail at a park in Waukegan Wednesday, authorities said.

The man was in his mid-40s and authorities are investigating whether cold exposure or medical conditions caused his death, said Steve Newton, chief deputy with the Lake County Coroner's Office.

The body was found off of the southeast bike path at Bevier Park, 2255 W. Yorkhouse Road in Waukegan, Newton said. The man has been positively identified, and authorities are working to notify the man's family members regarding the man's death.

There were no significant injuries noted during the man's autopsy, and final results are pending toxicology studies, Newton said.
