Gleason was Member of Libertyville American Legion Auxiliary
Services have been scheduled for Mary Elizabeth Gleason of Libertyville.

Mary Elizabeth Gleason, 89, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2013.
She was born June 23, 1923 in Libertyville and was a 1941 graduate of Libertyville Township High School. Mary was a very active member and past president of the Libertyville American Legion Auxiliary, former Auxiliary District Director and past Division President. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and volunteered at Condell Hospital and the V.A. Medical Center in North Chicago. She was also a member of the Libertyville-Mundelein Historical Society, the Saints and Swingers Square Dance Club and sang in several choirs. Mary was a sports fan, especially the White Sox, and participated in 35 National Bowling Tournaments. She was the former secretary for the Lake County Women's Bowling Association and was elected to the Lake County Bowling Hall of Fame. She was also honored to be in the Libertyville Senior Hall of Fame.
Surviving are 5 children, Diane (the late Glenn) Poppen of Oak Park, Karen (the late John) Fox of Lake Villa, Gerald (Sharon) Gleason of Gurnee, Joseph Gleason of Lake Villa and Jean (Gordon) Blue of Wildwood. 10 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren; her brother, John Suydam; Sister-in-law, Dora Rasmussen and Brothers-in-law, Edward and Richard Gleason.

She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert Gleason in 1992 and by her brother, Tom Suydam.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176, one block west of Milwaukee Ave.) Libertyville. Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 3 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, where auxiliary honors will be held at 6 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Legion Auxiliary, 715 N. Milwaukee Ave. Libertyville, IL 60048.
