Gurnee Firefighters Respond To Fire At Six Flags
The fire department also responded to two other fires within a couple hours of each other on Monday.

Gurnee firefighters responded to a reported fire at Six Flags Great America as well as an apartment building fire in Park City and a house fire in Gurnee just hours apart Monday.
The Gurnee Fire Department responded around 5:35 a.m. Monday to the 700 block of Knight Avenue in Park City for a report of a structure fire. Firefighters arrived to find flames showing from a four to six-unit apartment building.

The incident was upgraded to the Working Still Alarm and additional fire departments, including Waukegan and Newport, responded.
Gurnee Fire Department Battalion Chief James Pellitteri said the fire started in a stairwell and spread to the attic.

The two apartments closest to the stairwell sustained heavy damage.
The American Red Cross was called to the scene to assist the displaced residents.
One person was evaluated by paramedics but not transported to the hospital, Pellitteri said. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Firefighters were called back to the scene in the afternoon after it was reported that the fire had possibly rekindled but no active fire was found.
The Gurnee Fire Department responded around 9:45 a.m. Monday to the 4800 block of Kings Way West in Gurnee for a report of a structure fire.
Firefighters arrived to find a small electrical fire involving a treadmill in the basement of the home, Pellitteri said.
The fire, which possibly started due to a strip cord, was extinguished with a fire extinguisher and a hose line was not needed.
Pellitteri said three people were home at the time and one of them was transported to the hospital for minor injuries.
The home remains habitable after firefighters ventilated the smoke.
The Gurnee Fire Department responded around 1 p.m. Monday to a third reported structure fire at Six Flags Great America, 1 Great America Parkway in Gurnee.
An electrical strip cord had shorted out and caused a burning odor in the administrative building, Pellitteri said.
Firefighters identified the issue and removed it. No active fire was found.
