Gurnee Man Critically Injured In Weekend Crash
The single-vehicle collision happened on Stearns School Road and Mill Creek Drive in unincporated Grunee early Saturday.
LAKE COUNTY, IL — A 26-year-old Gurnee man was critically injured in a single-vehicle crash near Gurnee early Saturday, authorities said.
The Lake County Sheriff's Office was called to the collision in the area of Stearns School Road and Mill Creek Drive in unincorporated Gurnee at about 2:05 a.m. after a Mercedes-Benz drove off the south side of the road and hit a tree, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they found the sedan with heavy damage, with someone trapped inside.

Emergency crews were able to extricate the man from the vehicle and took him to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with critical, life-threatening injuries, according to police. It does not appear the man was wearing a seatbelt.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
