ICU Addition To Open At Condell Next Week
The 22-bed ICU addition will open Monday, Grace Wong, public affairs operation coordinator for Condell, told Patch.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — Advocate Condell Medical Center’s multi-year modernization project will soon hit a new milestone with an addition to its Intensive Care Unit, which includes negative air flow rooms that are ideal for treating COVID-19 and other infectious diseases.
The 22-bed ICU addition will be open to patients starting on Monday, Grace Wong, public affairs operation coordinator for Condell, told Patch.
“Our team is committed to patient-centered care,” said Kathy Miller, an intensive care unit nurse manager. “This state-of-the-art facility will not only help patients and families stay together in a more modern and comfortable space, but the improved technology will also make communication within our teams more seamless. We’re so excited to use this beautiful new space to help our community.”

Condell is the only level 1 trauma center in Lake County. The expanded ICU will allow Condell to serve more patients with complex and serious conditions and injuries close to home.
“These updates will help expand our capacity to care for our neighbors,” said Matt Primack, president of Advocate Condell Medical Center. “I’m proud to offer our community a place of healing designed with the patient and family in mind, and I know these investments will help more people live well.”

The ICU updates are part of a modernization project at the hospital, which includes updating the hospital's renal medical-surgical unit. That addition is located on the hospital's 5th floor and opened last October, Wong said.
The addition allows room for six patients to receive inpatient dialysis and increased the hospitals's bed capacity from 214 to 217.
