Juices, Supplements and More Available at Murphy's

Have you been to the downtown Libertyville shop?

For 18 years, Murphy's Health Foods & Juice Bar has provided items like all-natural supplements and fresh fruit and vegetable juices in downtown Libertyville.

Yet even after all of these years, owner Lori Murphy of Grayslake says she still sees people wander in and say that they've driven by innumerable times and never got around to stopping in.

And Murphy loves to chat with the customers, both new and old, to help them find a natural supplement for what ails them.

"I think there's a need in the public for people to get non-toxic remedies," said Murphy. Though she's often referred to as "Dr. Lori," she's not a doctor. "I know my products and I know how they respond."

Murphy said items like probiotics, multivitamins, immune health supplements and hormonal health products for women are all popular.

Other people stop in to learn about doing "cleanses" to flush the toxins out of their bodies, Murphy said.

The shop's juice bar is also really popular, she said.

Brian Baldwin is the juice bar specialist. He said all of the products used at the juice bar are organic.

"It's become a buzz word these days," said Baldwin. Consuming organic fruits and vegetables, however, is important, he said.

"Would you eat bug spray? That's what they dust crops with and we eat that," said Baldwin.

The most popular juice at Murphy's Health Foods & Juice bar is the Perfect Cleanse, which features carrots, cucumber, beets, lemon and apples. A lot of people like the smoothies, too, Baldwin said.

"Our philosophy here is the human body can heal itself if you give it the proper building blocks," said Baldwin.

Murphy enjoys helping people discover those building blocks.

"It's been a blast," she said. "It's been a lot of fun. There's nothing more rewarding than going home at the end of the day knowing how many people you've helped."

Murphy's Health Foods & Juice Bar is located at 400 N. Milwaukee Ave.
