Lake Villa Man Faces Attempted Murder Charges In McHenry Shootings: PD
Nicholas C. Lopardo, 25, was arrested after police said she shot at three vehicles and then attempted to break into multiple McHenry homes.

McHENRY, IL — A 25-year-old Lake Villa man faces multiple felony charges, including three counts of attempted murder after McHenry Police arrested him following a string of incidents early Friday morning, including the man shooting at three vehicles, including two police patrol cars, according to police.
Nicholas C. Lopardo was charged Friday afternoon, hours after he was arrested by McHenry Police just before 5 a.m. Lopardo was taken into custody without incident after police said he was involved in a number of incidents, including a domestic disturbance, the shooting at three vehicles, and the attempted break-in at several homes, police said.
In addition to the three counts of attempted first-degree murder, Lopardo faces charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, unlawful use or possession of a firearm or ammunition by a convicted felon and receiving, possessing, or selling a stolen vehicle or essential parts, police said on Friday.

Authorities said Lopardo could face additional charges.
Lopardo was arrested four hours after police were called to a home in the 3000 block of Charlotte A venue in McHenry for a domestic disturbance, police said. Police said that they received reports of possible gunshots being fired during the disturbance. Police said they spotted Lopardo near John Street and Green Street driving a Jaguar at a high rate of speed. Police attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspect failed to yield and police said they did not conduct a chase.

Police then received a second call of shots being fired near the intersection of Veterans Parkway and Barrellville Road, police said in a news release. While McHenry Police were responding to the call, a squad car was hit by gunfire along with a patrol vehicle belonging to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department, police said. A third vehicle was also hit by gunfire, police said.
All three vehicles were occupied at the time, but no one was injured.
Reports of damaged windows and possible entry attempts to residences by the suspect were later reported in the Oaks of Irish Prairie neighborhood, police said. A shelter-in-place was issued while the area was searched for Lopardo, police said in the news release. Police arrested the man around 4:55, police said, when he was taken into custody without incident.
Lopardo was being held in McHenry pending a bond hearing, police said.
