Lamz was Army Veteran, Member of Libertyville VFW

Services will be held Aug. 10 for Edward Charles Lamz.

Edward Charles Lamz, 66, of Mundelein formerly of Libertyville died Wednesday, Aug. 7, at his home following an extended illness.

He was born in Chicago and grew up in Libertyville where he graduated from Libertyville High School. Ed served with the US Army in Vietnam where he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, the Army Commendation Medal and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. He served as a combat infantryman and was recognized by the Army for his extreme valor while under fire. Ed was a life member of Libertyville VFW Post 8741.

He is survived by his children Raymond (Renee) Herbst, Lisa (Sean) Smith and Lynne Herbst; his grandchildren Katelyn, Wyatt, Hayley, Nathan, Matthew, Nicole, Joshua and Zachary; his siblings Mel (Jeanne) Lamz, Charlene (The Late John) Angel, Frank Lamz, Barbara Lamz, Arlene (Greg) Meshes, Ronald (Coralia) Lamz, Glenn (Terri) Lamz, Cathy Lamz-Hutson and Caroline (Fiancé Marcel Straniero) Lamz.

Ed was preceded in death by his wife Eleonore, his parents Edward and Mildred and his brother Kenneth.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Sat. Aug. 10 at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Place, Libertyville (Rt. 176, 1 Blk East of Milwaukee Ave) where there will be visitation Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 1:30 p.m. Interment with full military honors will follow at Lakeside Cemetery, Libertyville.
