Libertyville Police Steps Up Enforcement
The combined "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Click It or Ticket" campaign aims to crackdown on impaired drivers and safety-belt violations in Libertyville during the holiday period.
Libertyville police will be stepping up its crackdown of impaired driving and safety belt enforcement during the holiday period.
The intensified enforcement effort to combat late-night impaired driving and safety belt violations underscores the disproportionate number of traffic deaths occurring during late-night hours.
According to data from the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the midnight to 3:00 a.m. timeframe is the deadliest time on Illinois roadways. The data also shows this time of day has the highest percentage of driving under the influence, and the lowest safety belt usage rate.
