Libertyville Restaurant Closes After Fire During Easter Brunch

Austin's Saloon has closed temporarily after hundreds were evacuated from the restaurant during the fire Sunday.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — Hundreds were evacuated from a Libertyville restaurant after a fire broke out during an Easter brunch.

Fifteen police and fire agencies responded to Austin's Saloon, 481 Peterson Road, at about 1 p.m. Sunday for the reported blaze. The fire broke out in the bar area, and a sprinkler system squelched the flames before fire crews arrived at the scene, according to a news release from the Libertyville Fire Department.

Three people sustained minor smoke inhalation issues and were treated at the scene, authorities said. A fourth person was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center for further care.

The restaurant, which sustained smoke, water and fire damage, has temporarily closed its doors for repairs, according to a post on the Austin's Saloon Facebook page. In a post, officials at the restaurants apologized to those whose Easter brunch and holiday was ruined by the unexpected fire.

"We’re proud to have a community that helps others while they’re seeking help for themselves.
We are also so proud of our staff for remained calm, quick reacting & helpful to guide guests to exit safely," according to the post. "Thank you to the first responders in Libertyville & surrounding areas for coming so quickly & controlling the spread of the fire."

According to the Facebook post, the restaurant will "move quickly" to get their doors back up "in the very near future."
