Libertyville's Emily Fisher Quits Soccer To Focus On Basketball

The junior has received several Power Five offers and is focused on prepping for college basketball career.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — After years of splitting her time and effort between soccer and basketball, Libertyville High School junior Emily Fisher will spend next season focused solely on one sport.

Fisher, the 6-foot-tall basketball guard has been successful in both sports but after receiving several Power Five offers, including her most recent from Clemson on July 3, Fisher will be focusing just on basketball moving forward, according to a Lake County News-Sun article. Fisher, a midfielder in soccer, received recruiting interest in soccer as well from Illinois, North Carolina State and Syracuse.

“I’ve worked hard to be good at both, but soccer officially ended when my club season was over,” Fisher told the newspaper. “I still might do it in high school, but my body was getting overworked with AAU (basketball) and (club) soccer."
