Local Donut Shop Among 'Best' In U.S.: Yelp

GURNEE, IL —When it comes to a delicious, handmade, fresh-out-of-the-oven donut, not all shops do it the same.

Yelp.com recently released its list of the top 100 donut shops in the U.S., and a couple Chicago-area businesses claimed a spot in the rankings, including a local donut shop in Gurnee.

Gurnee Donuts in Gurnee was listed as No. 54 on the list. The business has a 4.7 rating on Yelp with reviewers singing their praises when it comes to the donut shop.

Here's what one reviewer had to say about the donut shop, which serves up cinnamon rolls, apple turnovers, boston creme, blueberry, strawberry, regular glazed, and red velvet donuts:

It is so hard to find a good donut that doesn't taste plasticky or generic like those "fast food" donut places. I'm always on the lookout for authentic homemade donuts and Gurnee Donuts is takes the cake on that. I learned about this establishment from a fellow Yelper- thanks Nina and I've since returned to this strip mall several times to get my donut fix.
