A man in his 20s was hospitalized after a gunman opened fire on the vehicle that he was driving in Waukegan Monday evening.
The Waukegan Police Department responded around 10 p.m. to the 600 block of South Lincoln Avenue in Waukegan for a report of a shooting.

Waukegan Deputy Police Chief Joe Florip said a man from Waukegan, who is in his 20s, was driving on Lincoln Avenue near May Street. Someone opened fire on the man’s SUV, striking the car multiple times, Florip said.
The victim suffered a gunshot wound and his injuries are considered non-life-threatening.

Waukegan Fire Department paramedics found the victim in the area of Belvidere Road and M.L.K. Jr. Avenue after calling 911. They transported the man to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
The incident remains under investigation by the Waukegan Police Department.
