Man Charged With Pushing, Injuring Child In Gurnee

A Chicago man was charged with causing great bodily harm to a child under the age of 13 after he allegedly pushed the child to the ground in Gurnee, police said.

Joshua T. Howard, 35, of the 8300 block of South Anthony Avenue in Chicago, was charged with one count of aggravated battery of a child, a Class X felony.

A criminal complaint filed in Lake County court alleges that Howard knowingly caused great bodily harm to a child under the age of 13.

Howard allegedly pushed the child to the ground and caused the boy to fracture his left arm, the complaint said.

The Gurnee Police Department investigated the incident and officers noted that it occurred around 10:15 p.m. on December 8 at an apartment in the 6700 block of Derby Drive in Gurnee.

Howard was arrested on December 10 and later transported to the Lake County jail.

Attempts to reach the Gurnee Police Department for additional information on the incident went unanswered as of Thursday evening.

Lake County Judge Paul Novak ordered Howard held in jail on a $150,000 bond with 10% required to be posted in order for him to be released.

Howard, who remains held in the Lake County jail, is scheduled to appear in court again on January 6 for a preliminary hearing.
