Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting Woman In Crystal Lake

A man was charged with sexually assaulting a woman, who he knew, at a residence in Crystal Lake last month, court documents allege.

Christopher A. Overton, 35, of the 500 block of Darlington Lane in Crystal Lake, was charged with criminal sexual assault, domestic battery causing bodily harm, domestic battery with physical contact and interfering with the reporting of domestic violence.

A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County court alleges Overton forcefully removed a woman’s clothes, pushed her onto the couch and sexually penetrated her.

When the woman tried to call 911, Overton took her cell phone away and kept it, the complaint alleges.

Officers with the Crystal Lake Police Department arrested Overton around 10 p.m. on October 30, the same day the assault occurred, records show. The victim was transported to a local hospital.

A preliminary hearing was set for November 20 and Overton was appointed a public defender.

A McHenry County judge ordered him held in the McHenry County jail on a $250,000 bond.
