Man With Gun Charged After Running From Police In Zion
A 22-year-old man, who is a convicted felon and was in possession of a gun, was arrested Saturday and charged with unlawful use of a weapon.

A 22-year-old man, who is a convicted felon and was in possession of a gun, was arrested after he tried to run from police officers during a traffic stop in Zion.

A Zion police officer conducted a traffic stop around 6 p.m. Saturday after recognizing the license plates on a vehicle were registered to a different make and model car.
Marshon D. Knox, 22, of Zion, was a passenger in the vehicle and attempted to flee the car on foot. Officers took him into custody a short time later.

A search of the vehicle led to officers finding a loaded .40 caliber Glock semi-automatic handgun, which had the serial number filed off, under the passenger seat.
Knox was charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon for not having a FOID, possession of a stolen defaced firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon for not having a CCL and two counts of resisting a peace officer.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Joshua P. Malombo, 33, of Beach Park, was issued traffic tickets for improper use of registration and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
Malombo was given a notice to appear in court for the violations, police said.
Knox appeared in bond court on Sunday and a judge ordered him held on a $250,000 bond. He remains held in the Lake County jail and will appear in court again on
