New, Temporary Editor to Handle Libertyville Patch

Dawn Aulet is excited to be filling in for Amie Schaenzer while she is on leave

I am so thrilled to be writing this column. My name is Dawn Aulet and many of you have met me in one capacity or another. I am a journalist, author and teacher and I belong to a great number of networking groups. I have met a handful of the residents of Libertyville in these ways and I look forward to getting to know you better.

I am lucky enough to be filling in for Amie Schaenzer while she is on maternity leave. I know I cannot fill her shoes, but I am happy to be in your town learning about what is important to you.

I worked for Patch some time ago, launching the Channahon-Minooka site and was one of three editors who launched the Joliet site. I also served as the business engagement editor for nine Patch sites, including the two I had a role in launching.

For a little more than a year, I have been a freelance journalist, covering stories for Shaw Media and Trib Local. I finished my Masters degree in teaching in May 2014. I live in Westchester. I have two amazing boys who are 13 and 10 and a wonderful boyfriend with whom to share the journey.

I am passionate about journalism and learning, but I suppose those two are givens. When I am not writing, I am probably painting, hanging out at museums, studying archetypes or symbology (both fascinate me), or maybe watching Doctor Who. I am a nerd.

I love writing human interest stories and about businesses and entrepreneurs.
