Peterson Road In Libertyville To Be Closed At Metra Train Bridge For 2 Weeks

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — Both lanes of Peterson Road underneath the Metra train bridge in Libertyville are closed for two weeks starting on Monday for a project, IDOT announced.
The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) said that cleaning and painting will be done on the bridge that carries the Metra Milwaukee District North Line trains over Peterson Road west of Butterfield Road in Libertyville.

The project will require a full closure on both sides of Peterson Road at the bridge, weather permitting, starting Monday and ending on Aug. 16.
A detour will direct motorists to Route 45 and Buckley Road (Illinois 137). Access to businesses and residences will be maintained.

Motorists can expect occasional delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area, IDOT said.
Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
Over the next six years, IDOT is planning to improve more than 3,535 miles of highway and nine million square feet of bridge deck as part of the Rebuild Illinois capital program, which is investing $33.2 billion into all modes of transportation.
Accomplishments through Year Two included approximately $5.2 billion of improvements statewide on 3,020 miles of highway, 270 bridges and 428 additional safety improvements, IDOT said.
