Police Issue Dozens of Citations, Arrest Nine People During Special Enforcement

The special enforcement was held from Aug. 16 to Sept. 2.

A recent impaired driver and seat belt enforcement campaign in Libertyville resulted in more than two dozen speeding citations, two arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol and many other citations.

Libertyville Police used grant funding to perform the Labor Day special enforcment from Aug. 16 to Sept. 2.

Police conducted 205 traffic stops during this period which resulted in: 

  • Two arrests for DUI;
  • 13 citations for not wearing seat belt;
  • Four arrests for Driving While License Suspended or Revoked;
  • Two arrests for No Drivers License;
  • 24 citations for speeding were issued;
  • Two citations for no proof of valid vehicle insurance were issued;
  • One arrest for possession of a stolen vehicle registration sticker
  • Numerous other equipment and moving violation citations were also issued
"The law enforcement crackdown is funded by federal traffic safety funds from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and administered through IDOT's Division of Traffic Safety," according to the Libertyville Police Department.
