PromptMed Urgent Care Team Provides Outstanding Service In Lake County

PromptMed's Hands-On Team Approach Translates Into Peace Of Mind

With the swirl of so many health concerns in the "Global" sense, it's reassuring to know that there's an urgent care group that genuinely cares in Lake County. Several week's ago, I had been in contact with someone who'd (Days after) tested positive for Covid-19.

Like anyone, I was concerned for both my good friend's well being as well as my own. Since it was the holiday weekend leading into Memorial Day, and I'd just been notified late Saturday afternoon, the first step was to self-test at home. Initially, I reached out to my local pharmacies to see if I could receive a definitive test. That entailed going online to find and set up an appointment and or make phone calls (of which I did both).

It's human nature to desire and procure results "now." Not only because an individual wants and quite frankly needs to know for both peace of mind and also, to keep those, like your friends and family safe. This was the first time I'd been faced with taking a home test and I was fortunate that my son was ready, willing and able to ensure that his Dad got it right via a Zoom call from grad school.

After patiently assisting me, I was grateful to both him and for the ensuing result (Negative). However, as we've been told, due to the fact that a home test can sometimes produce a False Negative, we agreed that it would be prudent to take a PCR test and have it sent to the laboratory due to it's more definitive findings. Knowing that getting in to see my long-time GP would not be an option during a holiday weekend, I began my search to see if I could find a reputable urgent care facility that could get me in expeditiously.

After multiple online searches and phone calls combined, my search led me to PromptMed Urgent Care in Waukegan, IL. From the initial call to the moment I walked out of their facility, from the phone intake person, to their receptionist to their General Manager and finally, their practitioner who examined me and read my initial results, I could not have been more impressed with the service and care I received.

When I first called, I was asked all the right questions and ultimately, they were so hands-on that when it required a deeper dive, their General Manager Lauren could not have been more knowledgeable or thorough. She provided me with all of my options and then some. Due to my own unique circumstances (I had an important family event approaching on that Monday/Memorial Day), I wanted to ensure that I was safe and I was determined to keep those around me safe as well. In order for that to happen, it would require expediency but could only work if my results were both accurate and definitive.

That weekend, I came in to take two PCR tests: The first being the one that provided a result within 45 minutes and the second that would be sent to the laboratory. While nothing is 100% after I received my first PCR test, it came back Negative which, after a thorough exam by PromptMed's medical practitioner, (My second negative test in two days when you include my home test), she was confident that I had not been exposed (Which turned out to be correct by the way, as it turned out my friend ultimately had been exposed days after we'd gotten together I was informed later, once she was able to figure out the timelines). The final and most definitive PCR test that went to the Lab thankfully ended up being Negative. Thankfully, I was able to participate in my family event safely. I could not have been more grateful to the kind, caring team at PromptMed's Urgent Care team.

In addition to the fact that the entire team at PromptMed made me feel at home, they were both thorough and empathetic and that went a long way with me. Both Lauren (Who conducted the pre-examination and tested me) and their Nurse Practitioner, Melissa Sell, PA. genuinely showed compassion and provided real-world answers to my questions, not leaving a stone unturned. The owner's of PromptMed have a seamless skill for hiring both competent and smart people who are both accommodating and kind. Rare in today's fast-paced, digital world.

The facility is fully equipped, clean and their turnaround time is impressive. A testimony to Owner Hunter Davis, the innovative Founder. Leadership begins at the top and PromptMed's leadership is no exception. From top to bottom, the company's well-run efficiency is evident from first contact to testing to receipt of results. I would not hesitate to recommend PromptMed to anyone requiring immediate medical attention in a pinch. (Or otherwise).

*Update: PromptMed prides itself in getting protocols in place for patient testing and treatments in lieu of recent concerns relating to the huge uptick in Monkeypox outbreaks and working towards getting those set up ASAP.

On another positive note: Mr. Davis will have some groundbreaking news arriving in the very near future relating to an announced location addition. (Stay tuned).
