Recreational Cannabis Reminders For Mundelein: Police
Mundelein police remind residents about the laws regarding recreational cannabis before it becomes legal for all 21 and up in IL on Jan. 1.
MUNDELEIN, IL — The new year means new laws, including ones regarding the legalization of cannabis in Illinois, and Mundelein police have some reminders for residents. The Mundelein Police Department posted the following reminders Friday to their Facebook page regarding the legalization of recreational cannabis on Jan 1., 2020:
- You must be at least 21 years old to purchase, possess or use recreational cannabis.
- Cannabis use in public places is prohibited (including bars, restaurants, parks, sidewalks or anywhere you can be seen by others).
- Only licensed dispensaries will be allowed to sell cannabis products and there is only one licensed dispensary in Mundelein.
- When transporting cannabis in a car, it must be in a sealed, odor proof, child-resistance container, and inaccessible during transport.
- Possession and purchase limitations are: Edible — 500 mg; Plant — 30 grams; concentrate — 5 grams
- Minimum fines for illegal possession or use include $100 for first offense, $200 for second offense and $300 for third offense.
- You will be arrested if you are driving under the influence of cannabis.
