School Canceled Tuesday For Fremont District 79 Over Power Outage

MUNDELEIN, IL — Fremont School District 79 announced Fremont Elementary, Intermediate and Middle Schools are closed Tuesday, Sept. 10 due to a power outage. All District 79 after-school activities are also cancelled Tuesday, according to school officials. ComEd believes the power outage was caused by a lightning strike, the school district reported.

The district anticipates the makeup day for Tuesday will be Friday, March 20, 2020 (Casimir Pulaski Day), and will be an eLearning Day.

"We are awaiting final approval from the Illinois State Board of Education," the district wrote on its Facebook page. "Once we have final approval, we will provide additional information, including the specific procedures regarding an eLearning day. Thank you for your patience during this process."
