Several People Hospitalized In Wrong-Way I-94 Crash: Police

Multiple people were hospitalized in a four-vehicle crash, suspected to be caused by a wrong-way driver, that resulted in a car rolling over on Interstate 94 in Libertyville.
The Illinois State Police and Libertyville Fire Department responded around 1:45 a.m. Thursday to Interstate 94 at Route 176 in Libertyville for a vehicle crash with injuries. A state police spokesperson said troopers found a crash involving four vehicles at the 16 mile marker.

One of the vehicles included a semi-tractor trailer truck and another vehicle was a gray SUV, which had rolled over onto its roof. The SUV sustained heavy damage.
One person involved was reported to be trapped in their vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters.

Multiple people were injured and transported to area hospitals for treatment, the state police said.
The victims, a family of three and a fourth person, were reported to have suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident occurred in the westbound lanes of Interstate 94 at exit 16A and all lanes were shut down until the vehicles were towed.
Minutes before the crash, state troopers were dispatched to a wrong-way driver call involving a gray SUV driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of Interstate 94 from the 11.2 mile marker.
The Illinois State Police said additional information on the crash was not immediately available.
