Snowfall Totals For Early Season Winter Storm Released: How Much Fell In Your Town?

LAKE COUNTY, IL â An early season snowstorm brought up to 10 inches of snows for portions of the Chicago area this past week, weather officials said Tuesday.
Communities in northeastern Illinois and northwest Indiana saw the highest snow accumulations during the storm Monday night and early Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. Lake and Kankakee counties had snowfall rates in excess of two inches per hour at times during the storm.

- Winthrop Harbor: 10 inches of snow
- Wadsworth: 6.5 inches
- Mundelein: 5.1 inches
- Gurnee: 5 inches
- Villa Park: 5 inches
- Evanston: 3.3 inches
- Buffalo Grove: 2.6 inches
- Midway Airport: 2.5 inches
- Oak Park: 2.5 inches
- Joliet: 2.1 inches
- Mount Prospect: 1.8 inches
- Palos Park: 1.6 inches
- O'Hare Airport: 1.6 inches
- Elmhurst: 1.5 inches
Meanwhile, "an unexpected separation between the two intense bands of lake effect snow" led to a minimal amount of local snowfall in Chicago and its adjacent suburbs, according to the National Weather Service's storm recap. Most of McHenry and Kane counties saw less than one inch of snow as well.

Slippery roadways led to collision across the area, including a fatal crash in Gurnee that claimed the life of a 29-year-old Evanston woman. Also, the storm led to hundreds of flight cancellations and school closures for some Chicago-area children.
