Snowmobile Collides With Car In Lake County

A Beach Park man was flown to the hospital after the snowmobile he was driving collided with a car near the Illinois-Wisconsin border.

A Beach Park man was flown to the hospital after the snowmobile he was driving collided with a car on the Illinois-Wisconsin border near Zion Monday evening.

The Pleasant Prairie Police Department, Zion Fire-Rescue Department, Winthrop Harbor Fire Department and Pleasant Prairie Fire and Rescue Department responded around 6:25 p.m. Monday to Russell Road and Green Bay Road.

The Pleasant Prairie Police Department said the incident involved a snowmobile and a vehicle.

Officers arrived and found the operator of the snowmobile, a 33-year-old Beach Park man, suffering from non-life-threatening leg and hip injuries.

The injured man was transported to Froedtert South Hospital in Pleasant Prairie.

He was then transferred by a Flight for Life medical helicopter to Froedtert in Wauwatosa for treatment of his injuries, police said.

The driver of the car, a 41-year-old Waukegan man, was uninjured and cooperated with the police investigation.

Officers determined that alcohol was not a factor in the accident and authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.

Police said initial information gathered at the scene showed the snowmobile was traveling eastbound on Russell Road crossing Green Bay Road when it collided with the vehicle, which was traveling southbound on Green Bay Road.
