Updates To Liberty Theater Considered

The downtown Libertyville theater has been closed for several years and village officials are discussing next steps for the building.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — Village officials in Libertyville are again looking at ways to redevelop the shuttered Liberty Theater in downtown Libertyville.

On Tuesday, Aug. 13, the Libertyville village board was expected to meet to discuss changes in plans from Vee Enterprise, which is looking for a certificate of appropriateness for new building facades, side improvements, landscaping and lighting, according to the Daily Herald.

In the past six months, revisions have been made to plans to redevelopthe 1.2-acre site and add on to the current theater and include space for retail use, a restaurant, an apartment building to the south and commercial building to the north. Revisions include updates to meet guidelines set by the village's historic preservation commission, according to the article.
