Village Considers Plan To Allow Strolling With Beer, Wine At Hawthorn
The Vernon Hills mall is considering a request from Tapville to allow the new concept at the shopping center.

VERNON HILLS, IL — Officials in Vernon Hills are considering a new class of liquor license for Hawthorn to make way for a business that serves up beer and wine, which then can be consumed while strolling through the mall.
Tapville Social is hoping to bring one of its stores to Hawthorn, which would sell self-serve beer and wine from eight different beer and eight different wine taps, according to the Daily Herald. Village officials are supportive of the concept presented by Tapville — which already has similar models in place at Woofield Mall in Schaumburg and Fashion Outlets of Chicago in Rosemont.
Village officials are working to ensure underage drinking could be curbed before moving forward with creating a new liquor license for Tapville, according to the Daily Herald. Current liquor license classifications in Vernon Hills do not allow self-serve and have specifications around where the alcohol can be consumed.
