CARY: Kick of the Fourth of July festivities early with an Independence Day festival this Friday, June 28, in Cary. The Stars N' Stripes Fest will include family-friendly activities, festive entertainment, a live DJ, bounce houses, axe throwing, 15 food trucks and a beer garden. >> More info

FOX LAKE: The fun gets underway at Lakefront Park in Fox Lake at 9 a.m. The fest will include a car show that will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 29 and a parade at 10 a.m. There will be live entertainment from 5 to 10 p.m., food, drink and activities.
