Which Flowers are Popular for Spring?

When it comes to Easter dinner, do you like to have a beautiful, floral centerpiece?

According to Jan Buss, owner of Buss Flower Shop in downtown Libertyville, there are certain flowers that scream spring.

If you're going to put together a centerpiece, Buss recommends tulips, hydrangeas, French spray roses, orchids and Casablanca lilies.

And just how should you care for those flowers?

"The secret is to buy fresh flowers," said Buss.

Flowers like clean, fresh water, she said, and that water should be changed every three days. The water should be filled to the top of the vase, Buss added, because flowers "drink from the full stem."

Buss said it's also important to make sure there is no greenery, including leaves, in the water. Additionally, flowers should always be cut at a slant with a knife.
