Woman, 24, Critically Injured In Lake County Crash
The collision happened Saturday morning in Newport Township.
LAKE COUNTY, IL — A 24-year-old Schaumburg woman was critically injured in a two-vehicle collision Saturday morning in Lake County.
The collision happened at about 10:15 a.m. in the area of Russell Road and Frontage Road in Newport Township, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office. Authorities say a Chrysler 300 was headed east on Russell Road, just west of Frontage Road, when a Mitsubishi Outlander turned in front of the Chrysler while making a U-turn.
The Chrysler, which was driven by 21-year-old Zion man, hit the Mitsubishi, which was driven by a 27-year-old Schaumburg man.

A passenger in the Mitsubishi, a 24-year-old Schaumburg woman, sustained major injuries in the crash. She was taken to St. Catherine's Medical Center in Pleasant Prairie with critical, life-threatening injuries.
The driver, a 27-year-old Schaumburg man, was taken to St. Catherine's Medical Center with injuries that are not considered life-threatening. The driver of the Chrysler was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team.
