Woman, 24, Killed When Car Collides With Semi In Mundelein: Police

MUNDELEIN, IL — A 24-year-old woman is dead after a semi truck collided with car in Mundelein early Tuesday, police said.

The crash happened at about 1:05 a.m. when a Acura sedan was headed south on Route 45 at University Drive and lost control, crossing over the center median wall and colliding with a semi head-on, according to a news release from a Mundelein Police Department.

Rescue crews needed to extricate the woman from the vehicle. The woman, whose identity has not yet been released, was taken to Condell Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the semi, a 44-year-old man, was taken to Condell Medical Center for treatment of injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

Speed was a factor in the collision, according to authorities. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
