Drug Dealer Charged In Overdose Death Of McHenry Man

A Woodstock man wanted for delivering fentanyl-laced heroin to a 23-year-old McHenry man, who later died, was arrested on Friday.

A Woodstock man wanted for delivering fentanyl-laced heroin to a 23-year-old McHenry man, who later died, was arrested on Friday, court records show.

Kostas Lymberopoulos, 32, of the 1400 block of Cord Grass Trail in Woodstock, was charged with three counts of drug-induced homicide, a Class X felony, and three counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, a Class 2 felony.

According to an indictment, Lymberopoulos delivered a substance containing fentanyl and heroin to Ralph T. Stalesky, 23, of McHenry, on October 12, 2018.

Stalesky ingested a portion of the substance and was later found dead in Richmond, the indictment said.

An obituary described Stalesky as someone who “always cracked jokes and made everyone smile.”

“He had a heart of gold and a smile that lit up the room. He enjoyed football and baseball. He worked for a tree cutting service and plumber by trade. He loved his family as much as they all loved him,” the obituary read.

A McHenry County judge signed an arrest warrant for Lymberopoulos on November 12, 2020, carrying a $500,000 bond.

Lymberopoulos was arrested in another state outside of Illinois on Friday, according to court records.

McHenry County Judge James Cowlin reduced Lymberopoulos’ bond to $200,000 following a request from the man despite prosecutors’ objection, an order document shows.

Lymberopoulos, who must post $20,000 cash to be released on bail, is scheduled to appear in court on March 16 for a trial date status hearing.
