Zion Man Accused Of Selling Cocaine Facing Felony Drug Charges

LAKE COUNTY, IL — A Zion man accused of dealing drugs was arrested Monday and faces several felony charges as the result of a long-term investigation by the Lake County Sheriff's Office Special Investigations Group and the Kenosha (Wisconsin) Drug Operations Group, the sheriff's office said in a release. According to the sheriff's office, Diego A. Zuniga, 32, of the 1400 block of Lorelei, was seen by undercover detectives selling cocaine, as sales took place in Beach Park, Zion and over in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Several ounces of cocaine were also seized by authorities, according to the release.

Zuniga was arrested after the drug sale was witnessed in Zion, according to the release. During his arrest, Zuniga was found to have a blunt-force object, which he was prohibited from having due to being a convicted felon, according to the release.

The sheriff's office said the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office felony charges of delivery of cocaine, possession of over 15 grams of cocaine, and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon for Zuniga. Additional charges against Zuniga are pending in Lake County and Wisconsin, according to the sheriff's office.

Zuniga remains in custody at the Lake County Jail on $250,000.00 bail and is due in court on Oct. 17.
