3 Extricated, 1 Airlifted After Crash: Manhattan Fire
The crash happened Saturday afternoon at Manhattan-Monee and Schoolhouse roads.
MANHATTAN, IL — Three people were extricated from vehicles after a serious crash at Manhattan-Monee and Schoolhouse roads Saturday afternoon.
One car was seen inverted on its roof; another was seen on its side.
Circumstances of the crash just before 2 p.m. were not immediately clear, but three were injured, Manhattan Fire Protection District Chief Steve Malone said.

Two were taken by ambulance to Silver Cross Hospital. One was airlifted to Advocate Christ Medical Center, Malone said. None of their injuries appeared to be life-threatening, he said.
Will County Sheriff’s Police and Illinois State Police were on scene.

The intersection is closed while police investigate, Malone said.
Manhattan fire was assisted by East Joliet, Frankfort, and New Lenox.
Elwood, Mokena, University Park and Beecher crews backfilled Manhattan stations.
