MANHATTAN, IL — An effort to highlight and support young entrepreneurs in Manhattan has expanded again in its third year, and will showcase the creative minds all in one place Saturday, July 20.
This year's lineup boasts 49 participants, growing from 31 in last year's event.
The market—organized by the Village of Manhattan and Manhattan Chamber of Commerce—will be held rain or shine, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the parking lot of Village Hall, 260 Market Place.

The market is a chance for individuals ages 17 and under to show off their enterprising side, selling homemade items, showcasing skills, and displaying their talents. The event is aimed at showing its participants the ropes of business ownership—engaging with the chamber, pricing and selling their items, and interacting with customers. The market was the brainchild of Trustee Justin Young.
"When I was elected two years ago, myself and the mayor, we decided to create more family-oriented events," Young previously told Patch. "This is one of the ideas I had, to make us more fun and likable. To try to create events where kids can interact with the Village."

A ceremonial ribbon cutting for exhibitors will open the event.
"Come out and explore a wide array of products and services offered by these inspiring young minds," organizers said. "Whether you're looking for unique crafts, innovative creations, delicious treats, or anything in between, you're sure to find something that catches your eye!
"Your presence and encouragement mean the world to these budding entrepreneurs. Let's show them our community's support and help them thrive in their entrepreneurial journey."
