Cop On A Rooftop Event Scheduled For Friday In Manhattan

Manhattan police officers will be raising money for Special Olympics Illinois.

MANHATTAN, IL — Manhattan police officers will be on a special assignment Friday: hanging out on the rooftop of Dunkin' at 535 W. North St.

The unusual location to spot a cop is part of the annual Cop on a Rooftop event that helps raise money for Special Olympics Illinois. The event takes place from 5 a.m. to noon.

Those that cannot make it out to Dunkin' but would still like to donate can can do so at the Manhattan Police Department.

This year's Cop on a Rooftop marks the 19th Anniversary of the Dunkin' and Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Illinois partnership, according to information on the Special Olympics Illinois website. Nearly $870,000 was raised for the organization last year across 283 locations.
