Coroner IDs Body Pulled From Kankakee River In June
The man's body was pulled from the Kankakee River on June 13. Authorities asked the public for help identifying him.
KANKAKEE, IL — Months after a man's body was pulled from the Kankakee River, authorities have successfully identified him, the Kankakee County Coroner's Office said Monday.
The man's name is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.
The man's body had been pulled from the water on June 13, after the Kankakee City Fire and Police Departments were notified of a possible drowning on the Kankakee River just north of the Bird Park Boat Ramp. Civilian bystanders indicated the location of a submerged individual downstream of the Fisherman's Park area.

The Kankakee Fire Department launched a rescue boat and located a deceased male in the Kankakee River a short time later.
The coroner's office the next day turned to the public for help identifying the man. A statement from the office on Monday indicates that dental records may have been used in completing the identification.

"The Coroner's Office extends its gratitude to the public for their support in this investigation, as well as to the Kankakee Police Department and Premier Family Dental for their assistance," a press release reads.
