MANHATTAN, IL — As the 7-day average positivity rate in Will County jumped to 9.81 percent as of Dec. 27, an increase of 2.42 percent from the past seven days, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more Manhattan residents are seeking COVID-19 tests but running into roadblocks finding them.

As of Dec. 22, Will County had 4,617 new cases, up 47.56 percent from the previous week's cases, according to CDC's latest available data.

While cases are significantly up in Will County, deaths are down. The CDC reported 17 deaths in Will County for the week ending Dec. 22, down 15 percent from the previous week.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported that as of Monday 8,091,754 Illinoisans ages 5 and up, or 67.9 percent of the population, are fully vaccinated; 9,069,185, or 76.1 percent, have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
