Registration Still Open For Manhattan's Young Entrepreneur Market

The market is set for Saturday, July 19. It's open to business-minded youth ages 17 and younger. Registration is required.

MANHATTAN, IL — Manhattan is seeking young business minds looking to market their skills, for a an event highlighting ambitious local kids and teens.

Signup is open now for Manhattan's third annual Young Entrepreneur Market, set for Saturday, July 19. The effort to highlight and support young entrepreneurs in Manhattan continues to grow in its fourth year, and will again showcase the creative minds all in one place, the parking lot of Village Hall, 260 Market Place.

The market—organized by the Village of Manhattan and Manhattan Chamber of Commerce—will be held rain or shine, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The market is a chance for individuals ages 17 and under to show off their enterprising side by selling homemade items, showcasing skills, and displaying their talents. Entrants need not be solely from Manhattan.

The event is aimed at showing its participants the ropes of business ownership—engaging with the chamber, pricing and selling their items, and interacting with customers. The market was the brainchild of Trustee Justin Young.

A ceremonial ribbon cutting is held for all participants, and they're each given a business license, as well as designation as honorary chamber members.

"If you're a dynamic entrepreneur aged 17 or younger brimming with innovative business ideas, talents, or skills that you're eager to share with the community, we encourage you to register for the Young Entrepreneur Market," organizers said. "This is your opportunity to acquire priceless real-life experience by showcasing and selling your products, goods, and services. Whether you handcraft your creations or curate them from stores, whether it's a beloved hobby or a fully established enterprise, everyone is invited to participate."

Examples of products could range from keychains, tie-dye shirts, candles, and soap to waterproof stickers, jewelry, stationary, art pieces, collectibles, and even candy. Meanwhile, services on offer might include gift wrapping, custom portraits, personalized signs, lawn mowing, and more.

It's free to participate, and the deadline to register is July 11.
